Paris Yates Chapel
Are you an Ole Miss alum who desires an intimate venue located in the heart of campus? If so, Paris Yates is the perfect place for your Oxford wedding. Initially envisioned in 1975 as a charitable project, university students and alumni raised $12,000 for a chapel fund. A chapel planning committee was appointed in 1976, while a fundraising campaign ensued in 1977. In 1978, a building committee was formed, but the chapel initiative was tabled due to the lack of private funding until 1995 when Chancellor Dr. Robert C. Khayat was approached by three alumni committed to funding the chapel. Interestingly, Henry Paris, a member of the original 1976 chapel committee; his son, LeRoy H. Paris II; and J. Stacy Davidson made the commitment of a lead gift with subsequent funds donated by Bill and Nancy Yates. The University of Mississippi Foundation voted to commence construction on April 23,1999.
Paris Yates Chapel houses a beautiful 200-seat sanctuary, a majestic bell tower with 36 bronze bells cast in Holland that toll on the hour, and a prodigious pipe organ handmade in Canada. The chapel’s construction and architecture embody the strong traditions so vital to the University. If your heart is set on an Ole Miss wedding, click here for more information on Paris Yates Chapel.
