Imagine your wedding taking place against the picturesque backdrop of a quaint Southern town nestled a mere twelve miles from downtown Oxford. If your heart’s desire is an uninterrupted wedding celebration coupled with the convenience of Oxford’s historic square, Plein Air beautifully fits the bill. As one of the most unique wedding venues in the state of Mississippi, both The Chapel and The Mill boast exceptional beauty and quintessential Southern charm. Like stepping into the pages of a magazine from a hundred years ago, Plein Air sets the stage for a timeless, unhurried wedding experience reminiscent of a by-gone era.

A Work of Art

Peering through the glass panes of the reclaimed wooden chapel doors at Plein Air immediately transports guests back in time to a simpler way of worship. The Chapel at Plein Air, designed by southern architect John Tee and developed by Campbell McCool in 2015, fulfills its vision of emulating a 100 year old Mississippi Delta church. With an white exterior constructed of salvaged pine siding, two hundred year old heart pine floors from a South Carolina warehouse, oak pews from a Virginia church, stained glass windows from a Pennsylvania church, classical hanging pendants from a Tennessee church, and traditional church lighting from a Boston church, the Chapel is more than an intimate sanctuary, it’s an elegant work of art spanning both states and centuries.

The Mill at Plein Air

Like the chapel, the Mill at Plein Air is a work of art all its own. Built from one hundred year old materials reclaimed from a paper mill on the James River in Virginia, The Mill boasts 14 foot tall ceilings, large glass windows, antique maple floors, exposed brick walls, and a sprawling staircase perfect for grand entries. This makes the Mill at Plein Air the obvious choice for your North Mississippi wedding venue.

Plein Air’s attention to detail and charming character make it every Oxford, Mississippi photographer’s dream wedding venue. Large, glass windows line the Mill’s facade, which allows ample natural light to filter through and results in stunning images of first looks between the bride and groom, father and daughter, and bridesmaids. The Chapel boasts a white exterior and light walls, providing the perfect backdrop for timeless wedding imagery. Evening sunsets paint yellow streams of light throughout the sanctuary as the sun disappears through the west windows. A 40 acre field behind the chapel ignites during golden hour providing a perfectly backlit piece of heaven for bride and groom portraits.
