3 Things to Consider When Choosing a Wedding Venue

Weddings

See that image above? Completely caught up in the moment. Celebrating love that will last a lifetime. Confetti exploding all around like unbridled joy. You deserve to feel like that on your wedding day. That’s why I put together this guide on what to consider when choosing your dream venue—because weddings are meant to be enjoyed, not worried over.

Consideration #1!

Let There Be Light

Ample light is hands down the most crucial thing to look for in any wedding venue. You can have the most stunning wedding in the world, but without the right lighting to showcase your efforts, your images will fall flat. Large floor to ceiling windows and white walls and ceilings produce beautiful, clean skin tones that result in that magical glow you’re after.

Avoid orange barn wood ceilings and walls at all costs, as they cast a horrible tone on the skin that mimics a spray tan gone bad. Also look for access to the sky around the venue instead of heavily treed locations. For the perfect Oxford wedding venue with ample amounts of light, click here

Ready for Consideration #2?

Choose a Picturesque Setting

Plein Air exterior

A picturesque setting evokes emotion in your wedding images due to the absence of distraction. Look for large front porches, private courtyards or gardens, tree-lined paths or tunnels, open grassy fields, and quaint chapels that transport you back in time.

Avoid locations with lots of parked cars, concrete sidewalks and buildings, and stop signs and street lights unless you desire an urban feel. For a perfectly picturesque setting just a short drive from downtown Oxford, click here.

And Finally Consideration #3!

Pay Attention to Detail

When a wedding venue attends to detail, your wedding images quite literally come to life. Arched doorways embodying exquisite detail provide the perfect framework for stunning compositions.

Winding staircases showcase luxurious trains as brides descend their steps. Majestic crystal chandeliers twinkle in the background adding effortless elegance, while antique furniture invokes the nostalgia of a bygone era.

In addition to your wedding venue, one of the most important vendors you’ll choose is the photographer who will capture those candid, in-between moments as well as the posed portraits of your dreams. After the flowers fade and the food is savored, all that remains from your wedding day are your images.
